- Seeing for the First Time
on April 29, 2011
Seeing for the First Time is a short eBook, at only 17 pages, however, after those 17 pages you're left wanting to read more. Just like the main character, Ana, you're introduced to the world of paranormal by her grandmother, and together you learn that there are different types of seers, each type being able to see a different breed of paranormal beings. From fairy seers, to werewolf seers, and Ana's Gram even mentions unicorn seers. I'm not going to mention any other types though because then I'd ruin the mystery. ;)
This story is short, fast-paced, and leaves you craving more! If you like paranormal stories and love seeing them reinvented in different ways, then you should definitely check out Nicole's What You See Is What You Get Series! :)
- To See
on April 29, 2011
To See is the second eBook in the What You See Is What You Get Series. After reading Seeing For the First Time, I was anxious to read about what would happen to Ana next, and To See takes off right where the first part of the story left off. In this series, each Seer can see one type of paranormal being, and only one type. For example, Ana's grandmother can see fairies, while other Seers can see creatures like unicorns, werewolves, or selkies.
Once Ana gets back, she tells her Gram about what she can see and goes to the Eye Building to register herself as a seer and to let them know what she can see. Ana's family is quite well known, and we got a taste of some of their renown when she went to the building, and while she's there she also meets a boy named Eric, he knows a lot more about Seers than she does, and I have a feeling that their partnership will end up being similar to that of her parents. ;)
I thought that To See was a great continuation from Seeing For the First Time, it was a quick read, and I really liked Eric. I can't wait to see what crazy situations he and Ana get into!

- Vampire General: Intern with the Vampire
on July 09, 2011
The best way to describe Intern with a Vampire, is a hospital drama where the patients and doctors are supernatural beings rather than humans. The beginning of this book had me cracking up, and I definitely smiled. It reminded me of pretty much every hospital drama or soap opera that I've ever watched. Within the first page two characters are in a supply closet...and they aren't looking for supplies.Of course, since they're doctors they got interrupted by a page. It was definitely entertaining though, and so was the rest of the book. :)
I thought that Intern with a Vampire was an interesting mix of paranormal and the familiar hospital drama. I thought Aline was a fantastic character, and the majority of the book was in her point of view, however, there were a couple of chapters that had different narrators. The switch to different narrators was a fantastic device. It added some extra tension, and I loved that we got to learn what happened to the one character through a patient's wife's eyes rather than through the doctor operating on him, it made seeing what happened to the patient become even more personal and I loved that. :D
I think that lots of people would love this story. It was funny, refreshing, and definitely unique. :)
The next book in the Vampire General series, Slash and Burn, comes out later this month (July 2011). I can't wait for Slash and Burn...Intern with the Vampire ended on with a killer cliffhanger. :P

- Tower of Parlen Min
on July 26, 2011
Right from the start Tower of Parlen Min had me curious. The main character, Ves, has a condition where he loses his memory every day. I was anxious to find out why, especially once subtle clues were dropped...but as to what those clues were, you'll have to read the story to find out for yourself.
This book was packed full of action, and while reading, it constantly keeps you on your toes. Right when you think that the action has stopped, something happens again and the action starts all over again. It's definitely the type of story to keep you entertained. :)
There were a lot of characters, some of them were hard to keep track of to be honest because they weren't really in the story very often, but the ones that you do get to know through Ves, were pretty interesting. Now onto Ves. He goes through tonnes in Tower of Parlen Min, and he defintiely grows as a character. He's kind of a crazy kid to be honest..brave, but crazy. :P
Another interesting thing in Tower of Parlen Min was the folklore. There were ones that I recognized, like the mention of Chonus, Helios, Selene, and other Greek gods, goddesses and Titans, and then there were ones that were completely new to me. They were incredibly inventive. To be honest, I wasn't quite sure if all of the folklore or even the place names were supposed to be ones that were real to us, or if they were just modeled after real life. There were places like the continent Bradil and Aegypt, which I assumed were plays on Brazil and Egypt, but I wasn't sure. It was kind of interesting to think that they might be related if we lived in a place that had the same impossible things that were in Ves's world.
Overall I thought that Tower of Parlen Min was a good story, and its ending will definitely leave the reader wanting more...and wanting to know what happens next!
