The author describes a future world with a robotic labor force, reflected in his staccato, detached narration. Told in present tense, I found the inserted parenthetical stage directions scattered throughout the novel more distracting than enlightening. The writing lacked depth of emotion and relied heavily on technology, probably a great fit for electronic game-players among us.
