Bambang Budijanto

Biography

Dr. Bambang Budijanto has been serving Compassion International since 1999. As Vice President of the Asia Region, he is a passionate believer in Compassion's strategy to partner with local churches. Before joining Compassion, Dr. Budijanto held a variety of roles, including pastor of a local church in Indonesia and lecturer for graduate-level development studies at a Christian university. He was the founder and executive director of the PESAT Foundation in Indonesia from 1987-97 — and from 1999-2000 and was the Honorary Director for the Consortium of Theological Seminaries (in Indonesia) in partnership with Fuller Seminary.

He is currently the Chairman of the Global Steering Committee for the 4/14 Window Movement and Vice Chair/Director of Mission Commission of the Asia Evangelical Alliance. Dr. Budijanto co-authored the book Relentless Hope — The Unstoppable Movement of Disciple-Making Communities. Other publications include Values and Participation (Regnum 2009), Evangelicals and Politics in Indonesia (Oxford, 2009) and Emerging Missions Movements: Voices of Asia (ED. 2010). He received his Ph.D. in development studies from the University of Wales and the Oxford Centre for Mission Studies in 1997.
