Hailey is a girl/woman fighting to find her way. She is stuck with a Mother to wrapped up in her own life & image. Hailey's father is drowning his pain in alcohol and women. Her brother Cyrus can only find release from his anger by beating others. I felt the pain and confusion in the story but felt the most turning points of the story were diluted. I was waiting for the happy ending but none ever came. I think this is what made the book easier to relate to. Not every story has a happy ending. Not to say this book is a tragedy far from it. It shows the strength of a family. It shows more depth that most stories. I would recommend this book.
  • Alone (Vampires and the Life of Erin Rose - 1) on Oct. 19, 2011

I liked the book. It made you feel for Erin on many different levels. It was very hard to draw a straight line between the good and the bad. Each character had good and bad aspects. I would like to know more about the twins. There seems to be an even bigger story with them. I did get confused half way through and re-read some parts. It seemed to me that towards the middle the story seemed to jump ahead. There was little flow into the next stage. I still thought the story line was great and will more than likely read more of Steve Perlow's works.
  • Raven on Oct. 19, 2011

I am so glad that I was given the chance to read this amazing book. All of the characters fit so well together. From the first page you feel for Lily. She has a mother who hates her and restricts her to school and home. Lily has no idea that this is not normal. This has been her life for as long as she can remember. Lily's father is more of a shadow than a person. Little does she know that there are so many secrets and lies. One day Lily comes home to find their home empty. Her parents are gone and her world is going to be turned upside down. Eventually Lily meets her fathers side of the family and the answers to her questions are more confusing than the questions. The pain that she goes through as her world is ripped apart and the love you feel when she finally gets the love she has needed. I cant wait for the second book.

  • Grave Situation on Oct. 19, 2011

I was not expecting such a dark story. This book read like an actual Police investigation. You feel for the overworked and burnt out police officer investigating the murders. The suspect is so mental twisted after years of abuse and neglect you end up feeling sorry for him. There are so many details into the mental aspect of the suspect that you can see his descent into a vicious psychopath. Definitely not a book to read at night.

  • Effie At The Wedding on Oct. 25, 2011

This is a cute short story about a girl named Effie, who's sister is getting married. Effie feels that she is always judged by her family except by her sister. Effie is scared that her sister will leave her and she will have no one to love her. By the end of the story you see that Effie and her sister will continue to be as close as they ever were.

  • Naming The Moon on Oct. 31, 2011

The characters in this novella were well rounded, though the interaction and the flow between characters was lacking. Paul is a man who tends to give up his life and identity for the women he falls in love with. His first girlfriend leaves him for more adventure. The second girlfriend is as sporadic as Pauly but she also leaves him. On his search for her and the money she took from him he finds a skull. This skull proved that a Caucasian female was in America before the American Indians. Paul feels the need to protect the skeleton of this woman who he names Panoma Moon.

  • Finding Fiona on Nov. 12, 2011

This was a very fast paced novella. I liked the character of Fiona. She has glimpses of her past though her amnesia is making it difficult to determine what is memory and what is dream. When she finds an article in a scientific magazine she recognizes her parents. There is plenty to keep your attention in this story.
  • Caged in Darkness on Dec. 07, 2011

I really liked this book. There was so many different supernatural themes in this book that it could be enjoyed by all. Savannahs character was strong and vulnerable at the same time. I am excited for the next book
  • Michael Belmont and the Tomb of Anubis on Dec. 08, 2011

This was a great kids adventure story. I read it through first to make sure that it was ok for an 8 yr old. I had no idea that I would love it so much. I caught myself rushing through work so I could get back to it. It was exciting and fast paced. Exactly whats needed to keep their attention. I will be buying the next installment, I just hope he can wait for it.

  • Broods of Fenrir on Dec. 09, 2011

Werewolves, love and action who could ask for anything more. I read this book in a day. I couldn't put it down. I loved the character of Alice. She reminded me of a werewolf version of Melonie from Gone with the Wind. Brand wants nothing to do with his family. He doesnt agree with the treatment of the others in his families brood. Because of this, he gives up his right to be King after he kills his father. But will he have to be King to save the ones he loves?

  • Tempest (#1 Destroyers Series) on Dec. 28, 2011

Ever had a book that made you talk out loud? This one made me say "What the h*ll" and " NOO!" Janelle gets uprooted from the Midwest to Florida and her whole life flips upside down. Her dad is acting weird and keeping secrets. She's not even unpacked yet and in the middle of a hurricane. Then she meets Gary and he knows whats going on and wont tell her. How would you feel if you had to do something terrible for the greater good. How can a teenager be expected to make a decision that will affect the whole world.

  • Lion (Vampires and the Life of Erin Rose - 2) on April 15, 2012

I am so glad that I won this book from LibraryThing. This book was such an emotional journey with Erin. She has to deal with being a new vampire and that all she thought she knew about Edmond was a lie. Not only does she realize that she watched so many innocent vampires sentenced to death but she let Edmond's psychotic sisters loose. Erin wants revenge on all the vampires that stole her memories and her life.
  • Uncertainty (Gravity series, 2) on April 30, 2012

I won this book from a Library Thing giveaway. I'm glad that I won this book. Even though I have not read the 1st in the series, this book can be a stand alone book. It outlined the 1st book with enough information to make the this book followable. I want to know who is behind it all. Though I have a good idea but if anything this book shows you that not everything is how you believe it to be.
  • Dark Genesis (The Darkling Trilogy, Book 1) on April 30, 2012

I won this book through a Library Things giveaway. I loved this book and can't wait for the next one. Luna and Avery's characters are as deep as their love for each other. I loved the fact that this book did not minimize the life of a female slave and that it showed the good and the bad. This is not the typical vampire love story. I also loved that this book had an ending that did not take away from the continuation of the series.
  • Fire: The Collapse on May 25, 2012

I won this book through a Library Thing's giveaway, I liked this book. I'm not much into Zombie's but this was a great story. Every character in this book was brought out. I liked the character of Megan the most. I am glad that there is going to more in this series. I would really like to know what happens when Megan takes over and I also want to see what happens with Hollister.
  • Zombie Fever 2: Outbreak on May 25, 2012

I won this book through a Library Thing's giveaway. This book was a fast paced and attention grabbing. There was some spelling errors but nothing that took away from the story line. At first I thought that Abi was a weak character but as the story progressed I realized she was stronger than I thought. I look forward to the next in the series

This was an amazing take on woman during the antebellum period. Each one of these stories features a woman in a completely different social level. While neither of these women are in same situation each one has persevered and has done whatever it took to survive. I think that this book is something every woman should read. It made me feel a sense of pride knowing that these women who were broken down, fought hard to rise again.
  • A Black Deeper Than Death (Miki Radicci Book 1) on June 25, 2012

Action packed and worth the read. This would be a great beach or pool read. Kept my interest and I read it in a day. Loved all of the characters. Wish it would have gone more into the background of why she drinks though.
  • Staying Human on June 25, 2012

I won this book through the Librarything giveaway. I think that with a little more editing this book would be great. The flow of the book seemed a little choppy. I couldn't get into the story because it seemed to start in the middle and jump around from there. This author has a lot of potential.
  • Burning Light on June 29, 2012

It was a little hard to get into the story line at first. It felt like I was getting the cliff notes version. But after I got into the first prequel I was hooked. You soon feel like your in the lives of Sashe, Seth, Evan, Sierre and Dar. You feel their fear and pain. That they are so segregated and looked down on. By the time I got to the end I was almost in tears. The pain that this group has gone through. I look forward to Promising Light.

  • What Kills Me on July 31, 2012

I won this book through a Librarything's giveaway. I read this book by the pool this weekend and liked it. I think this is a great summer read for anyone that likes vampires. Alexia's character is funny and Lucas' character is stoic. The race to find help and protect themselves from the Monarchy is filled with action. It definitely keeps your attention.
  • Secretive on May 16, 2013

I won this book through a Librarything.com giveaway. I wish that I had read the first book in the series to get a better feel of the characters. Not that this book couldn't stand on its own, it can. I think I would have had a better connection. This is a good story. I liked the current story plot. It was a fresh topic that has not been wrote about much. I think it would make a great beach book.
  • Reason to be Shy on May 16, 2013

I don't know if I just got a badly edited version but this book was horrible. I could not follow the plot. There was no linear back story. The plot jumped around so much with out any kind of flow. The book was very difficult to finish and I understood nothing of it.
  • Darkwalk on June 01, 2013

I got so into this story. I read it twice to make sure I didn't miss anything. It is full of twists and turns. Not to mention that the action keeps the story line exciting. I don't want to give any of the story away but this is a must have book.
  • The Lightness of Dust on June 01, 2013

It is hard for a reader to synch 3 stories together while they are reading. This book started off as 3 different stories and in the end the story flowed together. I think that if the author had not done it this way, the story would not have resonated they way that it did. I had mixed emotions through out the story. To me each character brought out a different aspect of emotion. It was so easy to get wrapped up in this story. I am grateful that I was given the chance to read this book.
