Smashwords book reviews by Bianca Noire

  • Tango Undone on May 18, 2012

Steamy, sensual, original, and written with love for languages of story and dance.
  • Fait Accompli on May 18, 2012

Steamy, sensual, well-written. I agree with the previous reviewer that the narrative tone is a little detached, but given the lush language and the anonymous nature of the events, the tone suits.

The world will be a better place if Ms. Murakami continues to publish her short stories at this rate. Her sophomore effort doesn't disappoint. Beth's transformation from ordinary young woman to destroyer of worlds is anchored to the world around her in a frighteningly realistic way. As her experiences escalates, her inner turmoil grows, leading the reader down a path of horrible what-ifs. There's a wonderful taste of vintage Stephen King about The Color of Ash, and the surprise in the last moments left me wondering how Beth will fare. What more can one ask from a short story?
  • The Netsuke on May 22, 2012

This story is a fantastic example of literary erotica. Beautifully written and complete, sensual, exotic, appealingly sexual.
  • The Seduction of Gabriel Stewart on May 22, 2012

A woman who knows what she wants, who finds a way to express her sexuality, who cares for and respects her partner, who finds meaning and fulfillment in her sexuality? Sexy in any time period. Brava!
