About Pastor Bob
My name is Pastor Bob Alonge. I am a Canaan, CT resident and formerly a resident of the Berkshires for 4 previous years.
Before moving to this area, my wife Renata and I, along with our 2 children-Jesse(now 24y.o) and Alicia(now 25y.o.) shared the experience of planting many churches in the Greater Boston, MA area. We have many fond memories of those years, of the friendships, and souls saved.
As the children grew into their teen years, Renata and I found ourselves searching for a deeper relationship with God and we were not finding it in our current church. Our kids were not either. We searched for ways for them to connect and serve but we found no answers and as they left home for college, we found ourselves being called to start a new church.
This last plant was with fellow minister, Dennis Ogbewe in Avon, MA. It was a mostly African congregation but we were family to them. We labored together and applied some of the things we saw that were not working for us in former churches. We involved the youth in worship and trained both young and old to be ministers of the Gospel. It was there that God called me to be a pastor and changed my heart to follow His will. This church (Grace Pasture Christian Center) continues to grow and is seeking yet another building because of its growth.
Then, he called us to Western MA to start all over again.
For 4 years, I was blessed to be an associate minister at Macedonia Baptist Church in Great Barrington, MA. At Macedonia, God had shown me what a loving church should be like. He had also shown me that there are also many needs that the Body of Christ can/should be doing. Living in the corner of 3 states, I saw many of these needs not being met and felt led to plant a church in Canaan, CT. The result was THE COMMUNITY MISSION.
