Bill Palmer was born on Chicago’s South Side and raised Catholic and a White Sox fan. He’s still a White Sox fan. He attended two of the last three World Series games to be played in Chicago (probably ever): Game Six of the 1959 series, when he was about the age of The Fireball Kid, Danny Voss, and Game Two of the 2005 Series with his son. Although he currently lives in Los Angeles, the Sox are still his team: You can take the kid out of the South Side, but you can’t take the South Side out of the kid.
