The Ghost Hunter

What's not to love about a book that has ghosts, fallen angels, demons and a town full paranormal townsfolk? This book is full of paranormal goodness.
Ashley Hunter moves to England when she inherits her late Aunts old Pub/house. All she wanted to do was to find out what happened when he disappeared from here when she was little. She wasn't sure what to expect, but knew something was up with her house when the realtor tried to get her to sell the house before she ever moved in. She just had no idea it had something to do with ghosts, a neighbor who just happens to be a witch and a hot, but mysterious renter who just happens to want to buy the house from her, she gets more from the house then she ever imagined was possible. From the time she was little Ashley has been able to see ghosts. However, those closest to her told her she was crazy and taught her to ignore her gift. When Ashley starts seeing not one, but several ghosts in her new home, ignoring her gift like she's been taught gets to be impossible. She gradually gives into her gift, and starts talking to them, and is worried when one by one they start disappearing. She's sure it has something to do with her mysterious renter, Cristian. Ashley doesn't believe his story of just wanting to rent a room from her after she turns down his offer to buy the house from her. There is something up with the guy, and she is determined to find out what it is, even as she fights her unexplained attraction to him.
Ashley Hunter is intent on uncovering the truth about her father's disappearance. But Ashley realizes she's in for more than she bargained. Not only has she inherited a decrepit pub, she's also inherited ghosts and demons. Then Cristian arrives, a mysterious man who insists he only needs a room to rent. She believes him, until one by one her ghosts start disappearing...
...more Cristian does have a secret that he has been hiding from Ashley. He's there to protect her from the dangerous evil that she doesn't know is lurking in her house. He's also attracted to her, and tries to fight it because he has to concentrate on the job he was sent to do-protect her & convince her to use her gift to help save them & the town from the evil in her house.
The secondary characters in this book were wonderful. My favorite ghost was Maggie, the little girl-she was just so cute and I loved how she just told Ashley to use her gift already and stop fighting it. The townspeople were great because you never knew who was a werewolf, vampire or leprechaun. Ashleys neighbors Camille and Rose were wonderful additions to the stories, because they along with Maggie, helped Ashley to realize she wasn't crazy with her ability to see ghosts and that we all have our own special talents. Devon, one of the ghosts was one of my favorite characters. I was totally on his side!
Ashley was almost annoying at times with her refusal to accept the paranormal world, but it made sense that she was that way because of her background. I liked seeing her evolve into a stronger more confident person. The tension between her and Cristian was great, and I liked it because the distrust between them was a natural part of the story. I thought this was just a sweet paranormal romance. If you're in the mood for something light & fun romance then I highly recommend this novella.
Favorite line: Well, are you going to tell me or just sit there brooding like some romance novel hero?”
I loved this novella. It was short, but I still felt like I got to know all of the characters really well. Admittedly, I am the worlds worst sleuth, but I wasn't able to figure out the mystery till the very end. Fans of cozy mystery's will enjoy this one.
