  • Consume on Oct. 14, 2012

I am so happy to discover this excellent author. Shally Crane has unbelievable imagination and after reading this series I certainly want to read all here other books. Consume was perfect continuation of Devour series. Clara and Eli were adorable as a couple in this book. This time they had to face various problems and obstacles and sometimes I was really worried that they would never got their HEA since whole book was darker than the first one. Relationship between Eli and Clara went through different stages in this story. They had to learn to unconditionally trust each other, realize that they deserve each other and manage their strong feelings for each other. Their relationship didn't have any fans and they had to constantly fight some opponents. I really liked that this book was about one and true love without having some love triangle or indecisive heroine. I liked Eli in the first book Devour, but here? He is truly caring, sweet and such a loving character. It was admirable how he respected all of Clara's decisions and supported her. In Consume, loads of things happened. Consume was exciting and thrilling story which was very hard to put down most of the time. If you enjoyed first book, do not waste your time and read this too! Moreover, I was happy with the ending and I am curious how will things go on with this story in third instalment. Even though, I will definitely miss Eli and Clara as main characters.
  • Collide on Nov. 13, 2012

Sherry, the heroine of this book, has no self-confidence at all. She thinks of herself as plain Jane, not deserving better things in her life. The only thing she finds special about herself is her ability to always know whether people are telling her s truth or a lie. Basically, she is a human lie detector. She lives with her brother Danny, whom she loves dearly. Her ex-boyfriend is one from the nightmare - making fun of her, trying to force her to sex, stalking her constantly. Than one day her ex-boyfriend comes, claiming that he is someone else and that he is here to save her and her brother. That was when things got really interesting... Collide is very original dystopian-paranormal-alien kind of story. I love Shelly Crane. In every single book I read by this author, she was able to grab my full attention and suck me right into the story. Ant it was the same with this book too. All that "alien" stuff author created in this book was pretty fascinating and exciting to read about. Story was sometimes slow paced but never boring. I really liked relationship Sherry had with her brother Danny. It is always nice to read about siblings who actually truly love each other. Moreover, Sherry was a very honest person and I liked that about her a lot. The world in this book became a very dangerous place but Sherry always showed her good spirit and I had to admire her for that. Another character whose point of view we get to read int his book, is Merrick. Merrick was not a superhero. On the one side, he had some usefull supernatural abilities but on the other side, he was quite clueless when it came to ordinary life on Earth. Sometimes, I found his behaviour too sweet, almost like he was worshipping his love interest and it got old by the time. But overall, he was very loving, caring and likeable character and he really grew on me while rading this book. I enjoyed this book immensely and I will definitely continue reading this series.
  • Darkhouse (Experiment in Terror #1) on Nov. 13, 2012

Darkhouse was my first book by Karina Halle and I was pleasantly surprised with her intriguing style of writing. She made me laugh, made me feel scared and created very different, original and interesting characters in this book. I like when authors are able to use the right amount of sarcasm in theirs stories, and Karina Halle definitely knows how to do that. I never watch horror movies but I love reading horror stories. It has been quite a long time since I read some horror so I am very grateful that EIT series were recommended to me. Perry Palomino is "delightfully impulsive" 22-years old woman who grew on me right from the very beginning of this book. She works as a receptionist and even though she is not happy with her job, she knows it is better than having any. The thing I like the most about Perry is the fact that she is funny and remarkable kind of person, always choosing the more crazy and more interesting alternative when given a choice. I really like Perry and she made a perfect narrator for this book. Dex was also very interesting character. I could not figure him out, there was something mystical about him but I liked it. A lot. Most of the time, he was driving Perry (and me) crazy but I had to like him nonetheless. Both, Perry and Dex, are not ideal or perfect people, they have their flaws but it makes them very likeable characters. Moreover, it was very easy for me to feel connected to them on many levels. I realize that this book is not for everyone. But if you like realistic characters set in paranormal setting with some horror aspects, go for it. And I am sure you will love it.
  • The Benson (Experiment in Terror #2.5) on Nov. 22, 2012

Perry and Dex are ghost hunters and these series are hunting ME. Recently, I have been constantly thinking about characters and about what is happenning with them in these books. I like how "relationship" between Perry and Dex is progressing and I love them both more and more with every single word I read about them. I am not going to write long review. I am just going to say that I love Karina Halle's style of writing and I immediately need more of Dex and Perry so I am on to next book. And a little warning, Benson is short but soo ghostly scary... It was perfect!
  • Old Blood - A Novella (Experiment in Terror #5.5) on Nov. 27, 2012

Firstly, when I start reading this novella I was sort of sceptical since it was not written in Perry or Dex point of view. But when I got into it I loved it. Writing was poetical, mesmerizing and some new info about Dex and Perry were revealed. All the EIT fans, this is a must read for us!!! Pippa's story was sad, dramatic and full of sacrificies in order to achieve her dreams and trying to find her happiness. She lived in differend period under different circumstances but her life had similar path than Perry's. But I hope Perry's will have different ending...
  • The Dex-Files (Experiment in Terror #5.7) on Nov. 27, 2012

I've got to tell you guys, to finally be able to be in Dex's head was incredible experience. I love all books in Experiment in Terror series so much, but to relive all the most siginificant events in Dex life together with him was something special. And I was absolutely content with the choice of moments that were written in Dex's point of view. The Dex-Files is pure awesomeness!!! It was all amazingly beautiful and I could not get enough!!! Some of his thoughts were shocking, some of them helped me to understand his thinking, some made me sad and heartbroken for him. Moreover, his thoughts were definitely very interesting, sometimes even perverted :) It was also visible how hars Dex was on himself, never allowing himself to be trully happy. And his ever present sarcasm made an appearance too. Dex is the most complex character ever created and I love him so much. I really liked him in previous books and was fascinated by him but he won over my heart completely with his side of story and he is on the top of the list of my all time favourite male characters!
  • Into the Hollow (Experiment in Terror #6) on Nov. 30, 2012

Into the Hollow is spectacular !!! I cannot express how much I love Experiment in Terror series!!! Dex & Perry are THE BEST!!! To say that I liked shocking development of storyline at the beginning of this book would be an understatement. I loved it. The one and only thing (person) that I kept missing in previous book in series was back and in full force. And I have to admit that I was swooning over the "improved" Dex most of the time. It was fun to read how Perry was trying not to be intrigued by him. And since I personally believe in second chances, throughout the whole book I was hoping that Dex will get one... In this book, roles were reversed. Dex was the open one and trusting, while Perry was building protecting wall arround herself, desperately trying not to unleash her true feelings. But Dex still kept his cocky side which I love so much. Moreover, I loved banter and cheaky arguing between Perry and Dex. It is exactly what makes this pair so special. Everything that Karina Halle created in this book or in whole series was absolutely mesmerizing. Characters development, storyline and scary stuff too. To be honest, after 2 weeks in the world of Experimen in Terros series, I am worried that I will come across ghosts or other freaky creatures in every single dark corner. But I am not complaining. It is a gift to create such a believable story and I loved every single moment of it. Now I have no idea what I am going to read afterwards because I already feel huge book hungover. I feel like nothing can compare to Experiment in Terror series. They are just that awesome. Hopefully, next book will be out sooner than later.
  • Anathema (Causal Enchantment, #1) on Dec. 13, 2012

BRILLIANT STORY Evangeline is selfless, caring, diligent almost 18-years old girl who is always trying to help others. But after death of her mom five years ago, noone really paid attention to her. Until she meets Sofia, interesting and sophisticated woman who offers Evangeline a deal that is impossible to decline. And that is when all suspicious and crazy stuff begins... Anathema is not your traditional YA paranormal novel. To be honest, I have never read anything like this. There was mix of everything - paranormal, magic, dystopian, sespence, action and romance. Paranormal world that author created in this book was like one beautiful but dangerous fairy tale. Everythings was so unbelievably fascinating that I devoured it in very short time. All lovers of paranormal genre should definitely read it. At the beginnig, Evangeline was shy, unexperienced, too trusting but it never bothered me and I got to like her and her lovely personality. And Caden? He was dreamy... loving, caring, passionate but always underestimating himself. I loved the parts when he was present in the book the most and his interactions with Evangeline made this story perfect for me. Anathema was full of unexpected twists and author kept me in tension all the time. Almost till the very end I was not sure who to trust and who not. And last couple of chapters? They blew my mind and I cannot wait to read next instalment in series.
  • And With Madness Comes the Light (Experiment in Terror #6.5) on Feb. 15, 2013

After reading first paragraph of this novella, it was clear that this story will be depressive. Dex was lonely, sad, self-pittying himself, without any aim in his life. Those who read Lysing Season know that Dex f*cked up and he f*cked up big. He hurt and lost love of his life and now he has to face all painful consequences. But no matter how desperate Dex was, his snarkines never left him. I loved Dex before, but now, after reading And With Madness Comes The Light, I will never have enough of him. Love is powerful emotion an this novella perfectly shows how true love can change person for better. Add flawless writing and this books is pure perfection! After everything that happend in previous books, and after evertyhing that Dex and Perry had to go through, I feel strongly connected to them. So obviously, last chapter made me extremely emotional. All Experiment in Terros fans - you are here for a treat. And With Madness Comes The Light is a must read!
  • Beautiful Pain (Three Irish Brothers #1) on Sep. 26, 2013

This was exactly what I needed! Steamy forbidden romance with plenty of angst, lovable heroine and charismatic hero!!! When Sophia accepted summer job as a Probation Officer in Belfast, she saw it as perfect opportunity to get away from London and her overdemanding parents. What she never expected was how would this challenging experience change her vision of herself. After years of therapies and unresolved issues, men were never part of Sophia's life. What will she do when one of her "clients", attractive and rebellious Harry, starts to occupy her every waking thought? Beautiful Pain is typical example of starcrossed lovers romance story. Who does not like to read about forbidden love? Probation officer and her client. Wealthy college student and criminal. Unexperienced girl with issues and naughty boy. Choose your pick, this book has it all. I really enjoyed reading it! I loved grumpy and unapproachable Harry was at the beginning. There is nothing better than mysterious hero when it comes to romance stories. He was extremely charismatic character and I was glad that this book was written in dual POV so I got to see things from his perspective! Sophia is lovely young woman who has really difficult time dealing with stress, pressure and problems. Maybe I wasn't ok with all her decisions, but she never annoyed me and my heart ached for her during various parts of this story. I have to admit that this book was hard to put down. I loved the setting of this novel and I cannot wait to check other books by this author!
