Biography
Martin Hickman is a freelance journalist who survived working on local papers and, later, PA News and Reuters. As consumer reporter of The Independent, he campaigned against payment protection insurance, restaurants pocketing waiters' tips and wild animals "performing" in circuses. He was named UK Journalist of the Year in 2009.
Soon after he started started scratching his head about the phone hacking scandal, and, with Tom Watson, wrote Dial M for Murdoch: News Corporation and the Corruption of Britain (2012). His latest book is a guide to lowering fuel bills, called Save Your Energy.
