Carl Lyle Jenkins
Carl Lyle Jenkins is an accomplished visual artist, an award winning broadcast journalist and news director, the publisher/owner of Somewhere Press, and an author of books and essays on a variety of topics.
Carl’s colorful artwork is found in the homes and offices of collectors from around the world. He has created hundreds of original works of art that have been displayed in shows and galleries on the mainland and in Hawaii. Carl's commissions include a series of murals created for the Universal Pictures movie, Kindergarten Cop, starring Arnold Schwartznegger. Created under the artistic direction of Academy Award winning production designer Bruno Rubeo, the murals were used in Universal Picture's worldwide advertising campaign for the movie. The illustrations in Secrets of the Laughing Wave are digitally created collages that incorporate the artist’s original oil paintings, photography, and images created using computer painting and special effects programs.
In his multi-faceted life, Carl has also directed theater companies in Oregon and Hawaii, served as a corporate training and development director, and worked as executive director of a social service agency dealing with domestic and gang violence. His latest artistic project is live video performances as a VJ. Playing live on a keyboard with special effects capabilities, Carl turns his artwork into fantastic music synchronized videos that are projected unto full-sized movie screens.
