Biography

Cate Polacek grew up in Maryland and has also lived in Japan and Texas. In addition to writing, she also knits and sketches.

Cate started reading at an early age, and got her first typewriter when she was five years old. She has degrees in journalism and creative writing, and also has a background in medical and science writing.

Her favorite stories are those in which ordinary characters find themselves in extraordinary situations and succeed in dealing with them, even if they stumble along the way.

Tempus House was Cate's first novel. The King Tree was her first children's book.
