Rose Voss isn't popular: people think her son is a terrorist and that hydroponics are good for nothing but marijuana, but she does know business. Bringing her struggling farm back from the dead and making a profit, while the Mom & Pop's around her withered away was a miracle- a miracle the town of Luscious, Missouri is desperate to have her repeat.

  • Complications on March 01, 2011

I liked Complications, for the most part, but I had a problem with the twist at the end. I understood what the author was going for, but having the main character produce a gun, knowing what he already knew, didn't really make sense. Other than that, the writing was clear, it flowed well and did a good job of engaging me. If the story was longer, I would give it more stars.
  • Robby's Wing on March 01, 2011

All I can really say about Robby's Wing is "eh". I say that because it's not memorable. It follows the same recipe that most children's stories offer up these days: preaching the message first and foremost, and if you can fit that into an interesting storyline, hey, all the better. A children's story is a great way to serve up wonder, imagination and creativity; those are things that kids in particular can truly appreciate, but unfortunately, you won't get that here. Other than that, I think the author is a competent writer who will, hopefully, continue to hone her craft.
