Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up mostly outside of Washington DC, but spent time in a lot of other places. We moved a lot, and I did a lot of reading. also we always had an enormous number of books in the house.
When did you first start writing?
I tried writing my first novel at 12. also did a lot of poetry and short stories.
