What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Firstly, a full bladder, shortly followed by hunger pangs and a craving for warm rice and pickled gherkins (don't knock it until you've tried it). I can be utterly zombified physically first thing in the morning but can plonk into my chair and write beautifully for at least an hour or two. Around 3 in the afternoon a reversal sets in. My mind turns to porridge whereas my body wants to run a marathon. I believe it's called biorhythms or the rhythm method or something.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Running marathons.
