CJ Hawk
Biography
I am an independently published author from Colorado who finds time to write randomly throughout the day with an intention to escape the perils of raising teen boys, grown husband, two shelter dogs and guinea pigs that squawk every time I open the refrigerator.
My novels sprout as short stories and often grow to full-length novels. Sometimes its quirky general reads that turn to mysteries. Sometimes those mysteries turn to romance. Some novels sprout like weeds, go full gangbusters into adult romance and sell like ice-cold spiked lemonade on a hot summer's day.
My favorite colors are black and blue; being a woman, I deserve to have more than one favorite color. My shoe fetish for gorgeous high heels went over the cliff when I became a stay at home mom over a decade ago. Now it is rocking boots, sexy sneakers - even for the gym, and flip-flops that say practical yet cute.
It kills me to admit this but with each book published there are achy fingers from hitting the delete button WAY.... too many times then going back to hit Control Z to undo every delete I just made. Yet, once a book is published, I feel a sense of satisfaction in my hobby. Writing has its difficulties like a new relationship. The plot starts to build is equivalent to seeing a handsome man for the first time, and your heart starts pounding. The plot lays itself out, and the characters are developing just like a new relationship with that handsome man. Then comes the editing and refining part which is equivalent to finding out he snores, farts way too much and leaves the toilet seat up. Get my drift. In the end though, it is all worth it and nothing beats a rock-solid relationship that can handle the ups and downs, nor does it beat the smile I leave on a reader's face after they got a moment away from the everyday hectic life. And that, is why I do this.
