Christopher J. Thomasson

Biography

Christopher J. Thomasson was born in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1972. His family permanently settled in the piney woods of East Texas when he was two years old. He discovered a love for reading and writing at a very young age and until recently, only ever wrote for himself, his family, and his closest friends.

In April 2013, at the age of 40, Christopher suffered a mild heart attack while on the tennis court. Within a couple of days, he was undergoing triple-bypass surgery. Because of his love for tennis and the increased active lifestyle the sport provided, the doctors informed him of a miracle–with the clotting in his veins, his heart created new vessels to transport blood to those areas of the heart that were being depleted…and as a result of those new vessels, his heart had sustained no damage!

As a result of this experience, Christopher realized that he has more to add to this life than merely existing–he has stories to share.

Smashwords Interview

What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Social media works very well...especially on such sites as Twitter where your supporters and followers will retweet your marketing posts. Something else I do is to always have a bookmark on me. I made custom bookmarks for each of my books and use it as a business card. I hand them out to friends, family, as well as strangers who I see reading (such as in a Dr's office waiting room). I also leave two or three bookmarks at restaurants. I'll usually insert them between the sugar packets on the table to help deter them from being picked up and thrown away when they clean the table after I leave.
Describe your desk
My desk looks like the aftermath of an earthquake during a hurricane. I have just enough clear space for my computer and a copy of the manuscript that I'm working on. On my right is a tower of writing books and magazines. Next to that is my radio. In front of that in the right-hand corning is a desk lamp with a burned-out bulb. To the left of it is the printer and next to it are stacks of printed paper (most of which consists of edited pages of stories that need to be trashed but hey, if there's blank areas on the page then it's still good for notes and such). Then, finally, to my left is a box with extra copies of all three of my books.
