Book 1 "A Gift From My Mother" introduced me to the main characters in the story (James and Bree) and their incredible love for one another.
The story as told by James made the reader feel and imagine vividly their lives unfolding. I was completely engrossed right from the beginning. The realisation of their love due to a stark traumatic event, then their decision to move to Auckland NZ, was portrayed in a sensitive and humorous manner.
The description of the way life was in the UK during the 1980's and 90's then in Auckland NZ was well covered, and I could relate easily to that time. The introduction of the most amazing event at the end had me completely hooked and I could not wait to read book 2.
Book 2 "The Great Demise" developed into the most amazing and credible story line I have ever read. James shared so many amazing experiences of their survival and life together. At times I could not put the book down and had to read on to find out what would happen.
Their love of nature, bird life, animals and for each other was evident and well told. I wished that the story could have gone on forever, mainly because of the many surprises that occurred along the way.
When finishing the book I felt as though I had been to a very special place, with two fine people and I wished that there could be more love like theirs out there.
There isn't another story out there like this one. I believe there is a lesson for us all the need to think rationally about how we live.
One of the very best.
