Mark Oetjens

Biography

Mark Oetjens was born in 1971. He grew up in suburban Chicago. As a child he was diagnosed with Dystonia, a debilitating neuromuscular disorder. Though there is no cure for Dystonia, surgeries and rehabilitation allowed him to walk with only a slight limp by the time he started high school. He received a B.A. in English and an M.A. in Anthropology, both from Northern Illinois University. As an adult a brain tumor, completely unrelated to his Dystonia, threatened to disable him a second time. Thanks to radiation therapy the tumor has disappeared. Mark currently lives in Phoenix, AZ.

Great book and great information. Mark sets out step-by-step how the best selling ebook authors do it. It's not necessarily geared to Smashwords authors, but to all indie and self-pubbed authors. Some of the info is common sense but a lot more is stuff I didn't realize. A must-read for every indie author.

This was a well thought out epic novel. It has major spelling and grammatical errors and the punctuation is non-existent. Still, the story was so engrossing that I did finish the book. Ordinarily with so many editing and proofreading problems I would have given up on it after the first chapter. I do have one question for the author. Was it really necessary to mention flying cars? That was the ONLY indication that the novel was set in the future. Based on the major errors mentioned above 'Call of Descent' only gets 3 stars from me.
