As this is not my usual genre my expectations were not high (can't lose at 99c right?). However I was pleasantly surprised to get sucked into the book and then spat out the other end wanting more. As the book progresses the characters become real and the emotions rise such that you wish you could offer assistance in some way. It also has gritty realism, the decisions made are never easy and you empathise with what the characters are going through. Can't wait for the sequel.
