David Clarkson

Biography

David Clarkson grew up in the North East of England, where he studied English Literature at the University of Sunderland. One day, following a drunken challenge from a friend, he bought a one-way ticket to Australia and ended up spending the next three years travelling the world. Upon his return, he struggled to adapt to a normal life and sought solace in his own overactive imagination, where he remains to this day.

David writes fast paced, character driven thrillers, taking inspiration from his days spent travelling around the globe.

Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in a small town in the north east of England, named Peterlee. It is at the centre of quite a deprived area and as a teenager I longed to move away to a more glamorous part of the world. I guess that is why I tend to set my books in exotic locations - Australia, Thailand and in the one I am currently writing; China.
What made you decide to become a writer?
When I discovered that I have a natural talent for it. After spending three and a half years travelling the world, I decided to create some journals to chronicle my adventures. The writing came easier than I had expected it too and it was not long before I turned my hand to fiction.
