When did you first start writing?
I started writing while in college at Florida Atlantic University. One of my assignments was to work off campus, with a company, for college credits. I was able to obtain work at a local film studio. While there I did a variety of of jobs, one of which was acting. I became fascinated with the various movie scripts and began writing. One day I showed one of my scripts to the director. He liked many parts of it especially the dialogue. After that he'd sometimes ask my opinion on scenes where the dialogue wasn't working for him.
While in college I wrote three movie scripts. However, I never tried to promote any of them. I moved on to a life in business and forgot about my scripts. Years later, I opened a dusty cardboard box and removed the scripts. I went to work and turned those three screenplays into three of the five books I now have on Smashwords. All five are now promo videos on YouTube and on my website: dbsilvis.com
What do you write?
I am not locked into one genre. As I've already mentioned I have five books on Smashwords as ebooks.
A detective thriller, a coming of age comedy, science fiction thriller, an illustrated children's book and a action classic soft Mafia thriller. At present I'm working on a novel about two serial killers, who were raised in the Auschwitz concentration camp in the 1940s
