John Cerutti attended various schools and colleges in three states attaining a Masters Degree. Around this time he served in Americorp, VISTA (Volunteers In Service To America) for 1 year assigned to a Native American Council out west. Neewa is a real dog he raised.
Some, but not the entire book about Neewa is based on actual experiences, although embellished. Neewa is a real puppy, she did get distemper, her tongue did hang out the side of her mouth, and all those and many other events did happen.
After working in several government jobs John retired in 2006. He started two businesses, which presently occupy his time along with completing the three volume series of Neewa The Wonder Dog and the Ghost Hunters. He has been blessed with two daughters.
