Deux Voiliers is the publisher for the works of a Canadian author who writes under the name of Con Cú - "owl" or "hibou" in French. It comes from the nickname "gros hibou" given to the author by a Vietnamese-Canadian friend, who was inspirational in providing much of the background for the early part of the novel.
The novel spans the period from 1975 to the present day. Two children and their families become the victims of persecution when the Communists take Phnom Penh and Saigon. Three years later, they meet in a refugee camp in Malaysia where the boy, Quan, becomes the protector of his adopted sister Minh Chau.
