Dylan Gates has been teaching English as a foreign language since 1996. As well as having a Trinity TESOL and a Diploma DELTA, he completed an MA in Applied Linguistics and English Language Teaching from King’s College, London in 2009.

He has taught in the UK, Spain and Ecuador and has worked as a Director of Studies at a prestigious language school in London, an English for Academic Purposes for post-graduate international students at university, and is currently employed as the Academic Director of TEFL in Spain, a training centre for EFL teachers.

For the last few years, he has been involved in teacher training in Spain and the UK and is an approved Trinity TESOL Course Director. He is a recent convert to blogging and you can read more of his writing about TEFL related issues: http://tefltrainerspain.com/.

He is a firm believer in adopting a learner-centred approach to teaching English and is particularly interested in teaching unplugged and how this can be combined with online language learning.

His teaching philosophy is summed up by this quote:

The best teacher is the one who suggests rather than dogmatizes, and inspires his listener with the wish to teach himself. ~Edward Bulwer-Lytton
