L.A. Jones has woven together a very enjoyable tale. The reader sympathizes with her characters as they struggle with both their superhuman abilities and their all-too-human foibles; her real success is giving them a depth not normally found in the genre. As her protagonists (and, impressively, antagonists) experience the ups and downs of familiar growing pains, we can see more than a bit of ourselves. The plot itself is unpredictable, and even a seasoned reader, assuming they haven't read the spoilers in the other reviews, will be caught off-guard by several of the twists. A solid adventure that consume your weekend; we look forward to Part 2!
