About the Author
Kenyetta A. Perry was born in Birmingham, Alabama and raised in Marietta, Georgia. She was given her pet name “Doc. Perry” by her mother and siblings, due to her deep thought revelations and quick wit growing up.
She graduated from A.H. Parker High School in Birmingham, Alabama and began Lawson State in Birmingham, Alabama in 2002 to study History. While in college, she became a mother and therefore left to focus on raising her two young sons.
Shortly after the birth of her second son, she relocated to North,Carolina with her sons to discontinue the course of an abusive relationship and drug infested environment.
She aspired to become more intimately acquainted with God through study, and therefore applied to and was accepted to
Charis Bible College Charlotte in 2013 to study to become a missionary. Her goal was to become a well-equipped missionary to aid needy children in urban areas. While waiting for the fall semester to start, she began to revisit her old prayers and poems she’d written to God over the years. She collected all of her thoughts and prayers and placed them a journal, “Leaving” which later became the first book in her three-part journal series called “Psalm of a Baby Mom.”
Her true story is written to God in psalm-like poems in her diary over time, showing the deep thoughts and prayers regarding her struggles. She transparently conveys her struggles to God, along with her experiences, faith, fears, love, lust, and issues of day-to-day living as a single mother after the demises of her five-year relationship with the father of her sons. Doc. Perry currently lives with her two sons in Marietta, Georgia.She enjoys inspiring others to write and plans to continue missionary study and work in the near future.
