Twins Jimmy and Jemima leave home for a day out by the nearby dark woods where they chance upon a strange green man who they befriend and name Walter. Together they embark upon an epic adventure in a fairyland dimension meeting new and strange people along the way before returning safely home to tell mum of a wonderful day.
