Biography

2014 USA BOOK NEWS FINALIST AWARD WINNER - nonfiction, narrative category

I am a licensed psychologist and nationally certified school psychologist, who specializes in treating children and teens through college for a variety of behavioral, social, and emotional concerns. Having earned my Ph.D. in School Psychology from the University of Florida, Specialist Degree in School Psychology from Northeastern University, and Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University, my well-rounded education and training equips me with the ability to understand and treat problems from a multitude of perspectives. I have been providing clinical and psychoeducational services for the past twenty years in a variety of settings, including community mental health centers, day treatment, residential, and public schools, and private practice.

I am also a father, who adopted my two sons from Brazil when they were eight and eleven years old, as I narrated in my book, See You Tomorrow . . . Reclaiming the Beacon of Hope. I understand first-hand the joys and challenges involved in raising children today, enriching my ability to relate with parents at their level.
