I've just read Bat Rider and the Lord of the Locusts. It's hard to limit the adjectives: this is funny, charming, delightful, quirky, all at once. The author is also obviously very knowledgeable about biology and the book cleverly interweaves interesting fascinating facts about animals with the exciting adventure story. Highly recommended! I shall pass it on to as many children as possible.
