Evelyn Manning

Biography

Evelyn Manning’s world was shaped by the Great Depression, the Great Dust Bowl, and World War II, but most of all by a belief that God was the source of all needs. The youngest of three girls, she traveled with her pioneering preacher parents spreading the “gospel” from impoverished Oklahoma along Route 66 to the Promise Land of California. Great adventures of faith were a way of life for her family. In her book, Ebbies Memories, she recounts some of these delightful experiences.

Faith adventures have continued for her as a student, educator of 40 years, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her faith in God has been her anchor. Her adult children, Linda, a teacher, and Tedd, a minister, have continued the glorious tradition of the “faith walk”.

Evelyn now resides with her beloved husband of 54 years at Smith Mountain Lake in Southern Virginia. At age 77. She is actively teaching at the community college, guest speaking and writing. Her faith journey continues full speed ahead. You are welcome to contact her at vmanning@dcc.vccs.edu.
