An entertaining and extremely well written mystery! Definitely 5 Stars! It's not gore, it's not a typical mystery, it's an Ana Raven story. The second you meet this well developed character, you'll be hooked.
I didn't know what to expect from reading the title. I always hesitate before picking up any book that does not fall within my favorite genre(Sci Fi) to read, but who doesn't enjoy a cool mystery that'll keep you turning pages and guessing as the events unfold? Joan H. Young has a unique way with words that can easily transport you from your living room or bed right into this cozy yet slightly peculiar town, where Ana Raven had integrated. It all takes place at the edge of Dead Mule Swamp. You follow the mystery from Ana's point of view, which makes it even more interesting and fun, because her thought process is right there with yours. I was intrigued and taken by the imagery and the portrayal of the various characters, who I now feel are people I could have actually met, sat with, ate with and solved mysteries with.
As I was nearing the end, I truly thought to myself, I'd have paid more for a story like this. Sometimes, good reads are so worth the bucks put into them. I'm definitely going to buy the rest of the series, because I'm already wondering what Ana is up to now! I heard there's a secret hidden in a hollow tree somewhere.

I have read other great works by Michelle Devon, but this has to be, by far, my favorite up until now. She had me completely spellbound by the story, plot, and the various relationships between the characters. It is a fast paced novella that is sure to keep you turning pages. Michelle's characters are three dimensional, and have been carefully drawn with depth and complexity.
The story lines are professionally laid out, so that it builds naturally to its climax without being distracted by slow parts or irrelevant scenes, which might knock you out of the suspenseful atmosphere Michelle Devon has captured throughout. The protagonist Kyle McRoy's psyche is explored to a certain degree, but does not interfere with the flow of the story. Like many great books, the ending of CELESTE will keep you guessing. The ending adds an element of mystery, and it is left up to the reader to decide on a conclusion. I truly believe that Michelle Devon is capable of delivering many more enticing episodes of CELESTE, and I am assuming we will keep biting our nails trying to figure it out.
If you enjoy a good thriller, and suspense of a psychological nature, be sure to pick up a copy of CELESTE.
