Born in Manchester, I attended Grammar Schools in Bury and Leeds. I trained as a journalist and worked as a political reporter for the West Midlands News Association, before attending the London School of Economics to study sociology, politics and economics. I ran my own communications consultancy for a number of years before joining Brunel University School of Management where I was Assistant Head. I took up a senior post at Southampton University teaching strategic business analysis and retired to France in 2004 to fulfill an ambition to write fiction. I restored a three hundred year old farmhouse and spend my time writing and looking after my two acre garden with my dogs Annie and Daisy.
