This was a really interesting book and a far deeper narrative than that which one is seemingly engaging with. As a writer, PF moves very quickly in a way that keeps you engaged and curious about what happens next. At times, it's almost a step too fast yet the outcome of that is that you remain hooked, interested and engaged! Beyond the topline however, PF provides some powerful insights into life in Sydney post-Olympics, post-Sex in the City, post-celebrityism, etc, etc. This isn't just a novel nor is it a one dimensional tale therefore. It tells of an author who is highly observant of humans, their behaviour, modern Australian city living and the dynamics that power a certain part of Sydney society and culture. Even after you've finished the book, especially (perhaps) if you live in Australia, PF's writings continue to play through. Well worth reading, not only what's in the text but also beyond its surface.
