Songs form the Other Side of the Wall is beautiful and compelling. Near the end, as I looked at the dwindling pages, I read slower to make it last longer.
To label this (and possibly dismiss it) as a "lesbian" novel is a mistake. It's a coming-of-age story, a story about a young woman reconciling her heritage and her future. I would hate to see it marginalized because of who Sandrine falls in love with.
