Fr. Slavko Barbaric resided in Medjugorje from 1982-2000. He suddenly passed away on November 24, 2000. We will miss him greatly and were moved and inspired by his insightful talks and written commentaries throughout the years. We can all be comforted by Our Lady's monthly message a day after his death, which said: "I rejoice with you and I desire to tell you that your brother Slavko has been born into Heaven and intercedes for you."
Fr. Slavko wrote many books about the messages of Medjugorje, and was very involved with the millions of pilgrims that visited from all over the world. He led Adoration, Veneration, fasting retreats, heard confessions, and countless other activities based on Our Lady's messages in Medjugorje. He founded Mothers Village; An orphange on the north edge of Medjugorje. He also worked with Cenacolo; A community in Medjugorje that does amazing work with men and women struggling with addictions. Fr. Slavko was a man of deep faith and insight that truly led the life of a saint.
In this book, In the School of Love, Fr. Slavko Barbaric has assembled many of the messages given by Our Lady in Medjugorje along with his own meditations into a blueprint for this struggling world and its need to find peace and love.
The greatest grace received in Medjugorje is not only the recognition of the necessity for prayer, but the actual will to pray and a real desire to respond to Our Lady's call. This is the main dynamic of Medjugorje. Only through prayer can Our Lady's call main goal be realized - Peace between God and man and peace among men.
Fr. Slavko Barbaric
This is the second book by Father Slavko. His first book was about prayer, this book is about the sacrament of reconciliation and is written from his heart. Confession is central to Christian living. It is unthinkable to have a Christian life without reconciliation between God and man. This confession manual is an outstanding directive in this beautiful sacrament of reconciliation.
The fact that Our Lady calls us to a two day fast, on Wednesdays and Fridays, in its own way attests to a preparation for a meeting with the Eucharistic Christ.
By worthily preparing for this meeting with the Eucharistic Christ at the Eucharistic feast, man prepares himself for the eternal feast in Heaven.
Father Slavko Barbaric (1946-2000)
My purpose in writing this book is to encourage you to fast. At the end of this book I would like to say to you "begin to fast," and I hope you will respond, "I will." I pray that through fasting you will discover all the treasures that God has put inside you and that through fasting your longing for God will grow within you from day to day.
~Father Slavko
With this booklet, Father Slavko desires that you come closer to the suffering Savior and his suffering mother. Featuring the bronze sculpted artwork of Carmelo Puzzolo which lines the path up Mt. Krizevac, the images were sculpted with much love after Carmelos experience of Our Lady's presence in Medjugorje, which inspired him to make her image present in every station.
This is one of Father Slavko's first books and one book that everyone should own. There are many books written about prayer but here is a book, which in itself, is a prayer. Whoever reads this book will be spiritually enriched.
