Ginny Lowndes

Biography

I grew up in Mitchell on the Maranoa River in The Outback of Australia. My life and writing is informed by it. I have lengthy experience in Australian publishing, film and television as a story teller, story editor, and writer.

Corrugated Roads is 27 interlinked stories about a young girl's comic and sometimes heartbreaking interpretation of the tragic and bewildering events in her family's life in a drought-stricken Outback town in the 1950s.

It has been described by writer, Geoffrey Dean as "a gritty telling and a book I couldn't put down. And, in spite of its serious subject matter, there is relief in the unexpected humour that arises out of the girl's imaginative misconceptions about events beyond her experience."
