Gordon is a Scottish writer, addicted to reading and writing historical fiction.
His love of history was piqued during spells living and working close to both Hadrian's Wall and the Antonine Wall, sites of rich history winding back through thousands of years. The later Roman Empire and Byzantium hold a particular fascination for Gordon.
Writing about these times is a pleasure to Gordon and he lists many authors amongst his literary influences, including: Simon Scarrow, David Gemmell, Conn Iggulden, Bernard Cornwell & Valerio Massimo Manfredi. Gordon also enjoys reading and writing sci-fi and black comedy.
His first novel "Legionary", a tale of adventure in the border legions and set in the Eastern Roman Empire circa 376AD, is published and available in paperback and as an eBook - see www.gordopolis.com/writing for details.
Gordon is currently working on his second novel a tale of the life of a Byzantine general, set around the build of the the Battle of Manzikert. This novel is expected to be published towards the end of 2011. After that, the second book in the Legionary series will be his next project.
