As a retired Lt. Col. I always enjoy a book with an action packed military mission, whether fiction or nonfiction. The author of S.E.A.L. Team Omega did not disappoint. An action packed story filled with great dialogue. Definitely worth the read. Can't wait for the next book.

A five-star read about life in the 1880s in Texas
Have you ever wondered what it was like to live in the 1880s in a rugged and untamed part of Texas? Magnolia Belle introduces you to life in Tascosa, a Texas panhandle town. Though the characters are fictional, both history buffs and those who enjoy a story about life in the 1880’s will delight at her colorful depiction and great dialogue written in the jargon of that era. The story will take you from shootouts to romantic scenes. All aspects of life and all its struggles can be found. I did a Google search to find out what is out there about Tascosa and found many factual places and names (http://www.texasescapes.com/TOWNS/Vega/Oldham-County-Courthouse-Vega-Texas.htm#museum). Tascosa is an excellent book that is worth the read.
- T'on Ma

magnificent story about love and two cultures
This is a magnificent story about love and two cultures. T’on Ma takes you on a journey back in history around the time of the Mexican-American War (1846-1848) in Texas where two completely different cultures collide. The story allows you to get lost in time and follow the lives of the Native American tribe Kiowa (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kiowa for more info on the Kiowa) and the settlers who lived their. T’on Ma means Water Woman. It is the name a Kiowa brave named Two Hawks gave to a white settler he encountered while bathing in a river. Her real name was Lana Cooper and he fell in love with her. This relationship was full of conflict between two families of different cultures and was an enormous strain. A very worthwhile story with great human value.
- Letters From Under the Mushroom Cloud
on Nov. 17, 2010
Thought Provoking, Eye Witness History.
Every American should read this. The book is a collection of letters to a deceased father about the life of a soldier who served and experienced, first hand, atomic bomb testing back in the fifties. The author, Ray Hoy, shares his priceless collection of heartfelt correspondence with his father. Thankfully, Ray has captured a piece of history about some very unfortunate tragedies. Many suffered and lost their lives to cancer and other diseases related to being too close to the testing of the atomic bomb or were overexposed. The letters all reflect the fondness Ray felt for his father and others. They conclude with a reflection upon the loss of quality time with people. The sound bite mentality seems to have found its way into our daily lives. Letters from Under the Mushroom Cloud is a worthy read and will become a catalyst to reflect on what is meaningful about life.

What women want (and need) on their career path
When I thought about reading a career book for women though I am a man, I first thought about the movie “What Women Want.” Would I be getting some inside information that would help me to better understand women (which may have proven to be a scary thought.)? My discovery: very enlightening and very useful, for men and women. This is an excellent, well organized, career reference book with special insights for women and their special challenges in the workplace and on their career path. The author, Karen Ademedes, clearly demonstrates her own expertise as someone who understands the career ladder and corporate world.

These are very simple memory techniques that anyone can use. The author, Dr. Klemm, gave me in his book, Better Grades, Less Effort, all that I needed to start applying his memory techniques. Easy to understand examples, case studies and stories make this book an enjoyable read while improving on an important skill that we all can use at work, at home or in school. The author makes a point to prove that even the elderly can benefit greatly from his memory techniques. By the way, it’s also a great way to impress friends and your boss!
