Publisher Hickey & McGee

Publisher info

Hickey's Books was founded by often awarded novelist Ken Kuhlken (kenkuhlken.net), originally as a brick and mortar bookstore. When he gave up that noble endeavor, he turned to publishing in fear he otherwise might get lazy and drink too much or worry too much about politics and the human condition.

Along the way, Clifford Hickey and Jodi McGee took over the business and allowed Ken to focus on novels and teaching at
Perelandra College (perelandra.edu). He also reads a lot, plays golf now and then, hangs out with his kids, and plants herbs and vegetables in hopes they will grow.

Smashwords Interview

When did you first start writing?
The first story I remember writing was in eighth grade. I wrote it because for the first time I believe I had a valuable story to tell. To this day, I don't write so much for fun or profit as to tell a story I believe shouldn't be lost.
What motivated you to become an indie author?I
I have long been publishing with traditional publishers, but have found that some books I feel the need to write don't fit what they feel the need to publish.
