Brien Foerster

Biography

Brien was born in Rochester, Minnesota, U.S.A. but grew up on the west coast of Canada. At age 11, he became fascinated with the Native art of the Haida native people, and began carving totem poles, and other related art forms, learning from Native teachers. After completing an Honours Bachelor Of Science degree, Brien decided to take up carving and sculpture full time, at the age of 25.

In 1995 he moved to Maui, Hawaii, and was hired as assistant project manager for the building of the 62 foot double hull sailing canoe ( ancestor of the modern day catamaran ) Mo’okiha O Pi’ilani ( Sacred Lizard That Pierces The Heavens. ) This project lasted 2 years.

There, having learned how to make Hawaiian outrigger canoe paddles from master carver Keola Sequiera, he started an online outrigger paddle business, which flourished internationally.

Peru became his next major area of interest. The study of the Inca culture led to his writing a book, A Brief History Of The Incas which is available on this site, and is also actively engaged with native Shipibo people from the central Amazon of Peru, promoting the sale of their traditional arts and crafts. www.shipibospirit.com

Other projects, which will result in published books, include one about the ancient history of Hawaii, the mysterious stone monuments of Peru that predate the Inca, and the search for the lost continent of Mu. This will require combining all that he has learned so far, with trips to New Zealand (Aotearoa), Hawaii, and Easter island (Rapanui.) www.kalaispirit.com

The Complete Guide of Inca Cusco and the Sacred Valley
By
Price: $4.99 USD. Words: 15,920. Language: English. Published: April 24, 2011. Category: Nonfiction » Travel » By region
I wrote this book after 5 years of exploring and studying the Inca and the sacred sites of Cusco and the Sacred Valley of Peru. There was no good guidebook that I could find explaining what the famous and not so famous sites meant, who built them, and when. As a professional tour guide of the area, I feel it is important that visitors have a pocket sized guide like this.
Hawaii: From Origins To The End Of The Monarchy
By
Price: $4.95 USD. Words: 33,420. Language: English. Published: April 8, 2011. Category: Nonfiction » Travel » By region
Hawaii is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world, and has written about extensively. However, few books ever talk about the Hawaiians themselves, and their history, going back at least 2000 years. This book was compiled by the author from his personal experiences living on the island of Maui, Hawaii, and the oral traditions he was taught by Hawaiian elders.
A Brief History Of The Incas: From Rise, Through Reign, To Ruin
By
Price: $4.95 USD. Words: 23,810. Language: English. Published: April 8, 2011. Category: Nonfiction » Travel » By region
I wrote this book because as a frequent visitor to Cuzco, and the Inca world, there are no economically priced and pocket sized Inca history books available in Peru or in fact anywhere in English. The book covers the complete history of the Inca from their roots, to their downfall as the result of the Spanish conquest. Many color photos and maps guide the reader through the story of the Inca.
