Ian Weaver

Biography

I am from Louth, Lincolnshire and was brought up against a service background; my Father a serving member of the RAF for just short of forty years. I was educated in Grantham and joined the Fleet Air Arm, Royal Navy as an Observer on Anti-Submarine Seaking helicopters in 1979. I served on various ships around the world including HMS Endurance in Antarctica; the setting for the second book in the series, Frozen in Time.

In 1989 I transferred to the Royal Air Force and flew as a navigator in Tornado F3 fighter aircraft. After a tour at RAF Leuchars, Scotland, I qualified as an instructor at RAF Coningsby. In 1996 I was involved in a mid-air collision and ejected suffering serious injuries to my head, neck and chest. Two years later I was medically discharged and was employed by the RAF teaching in the Tornado Simulator at Coningsby. In 2009 I was made redundant as the F3 started to be phased out of service and I now live in North Hykeham, Lincoln, pursuing my writing career.

I enjoy story-telling and this is reflected in my writing style. My first novel covers several genres; primarily action and adventure but with the inclusion of some fantasy. My influences include Desmond Bagley, and more recently, Clive Cussler’s earlier novels.

I am married with 2 children and 3 step children. I enjoy golf, photography, entertaining and socialising with his family and friends. Of course that is when I’m not fulfilling my duties as a full time house husband and novelist.
