From the first story, Colson Whitehead's The Comedian, I am pulled in with such concise encapsulating descriptions as "His new schtick fell into two subject areas: Everything is Terrible. People are dissappointing"
Love by Stephen O'Connor is wonderful all the way through, starting with the inception of the relationship: "She invited him up for coffee and, except for a mid-afternoon brunch, he didn't leave her apartment for thirty-one hours - which is to say, until 7:30 Monday morning, when he had to go to work."
I have a small love affair with Lydia Davis, and the last story of the issue, The Cows, only fans the flames.. It's difficult to pick just one line, but "How often they stand still and look around as though they have never been here before"
I accidentally read most of the issue in one sitting..
