  • Two Steps Forward: a short story by Kelly Hitchcock on Jan. 06, 2011

This is a pleasant read about a likable character named Tara, who sews and records football. She's a real character, but also memorable. As a reader, I want Tara to succeed, but I like the hard truth at the end of the story. I'll look for more from this author.

I thought the ending was a little predictable, but I liked the story anyway. It is written well and there's an emotional investment in these characters from the author. Readers should be able to pick up on this investment. That makes it a good read.

This is a hell of a story. I understood the idea of "the replacement" and I feel like the characters are real and insightful. Nice piece of science fiction. It's well-written. It's interesting. Kudos to the author!
