What's the story behind your new release "Cassandra"?
The characters and story of Casey and JD in "Cassandra: Night Shades" had been created for a totally different timeline. The characters sat locked in my files for nearly a decade before they demanded to brought into the light and underwent a contemporary makeover. Folks from Cleveland's western suburbs will recognize the setting for Casey's formative years. Cassandra was released March 21, 2016 and will remain at the pre-order through April 30th. The introduction period will also apply to paperbacks ordered directly from the author or publisher.
How long did you work on Wind River Refuge? Are there any updates?
"Wind River Refuge" was released March of 2014. The refuge in the title was the result of finding safe harbor for a traumatized and abused young girl. This story was in the works for nearly five years. Jax's troubles follow her as she matures into a woman. Working out the characters complexities and motivations was challenging, and I had to abandon it for a while then come back at it with fresh eyes. Today there are child advocacy groups in every state, and still children fall through the cracks. Jax was born in the 1950's before any of these protections were in place. 2015 Winner of the Next Generation Indie Book Awards in the Romance Category. I can still be seen doing my happy dance when I put the gold winner stickers on a batch of new books. 2016 update: Wind River Refuge is February's Book of the Month. Check my writing blog for more information and special pricing.
