Steve Holyoak

Biography

I am a 52 year old Father of six wonderful children and a Grandfather of six equally wonderful grand children.
Location: Columbia Falls, Montana, United States

As a child, I struggled in school and especially in English and spelling. No one really knew what to call it back then, other than slow or lazy. It was sometimes embarrassing when I was the last one to go to lunch or recess, because I was so slow at reading the test questions and understanding what I had read. As time and years passed, I found that the thing I hated because I was not good at it… was an essential part of learning everything else. The reading disability I struggled with, along with my A.D.D, was a high mountain to climb. But my dreams of recording my stories drove me to overcome what seemed impossible. While I was excelling at Mathematics and things mechanical, becoming a certified Millwright/welder, Heavy Equipment operator, HVAC tech and Mechanic. I surprised even myself when I went from writing children’s stories as a hobby, to a full blown novel. Using spell check and help from friends and family, the book took form. I taught myself to type as I edited and re-edited my work over and over, learning more each time. I have worked hard to prepare it to keep the interest of the reader while teaching them the flow of the New Testament from the eyes of a youth in the past. This book is Proof that we can do anything we put our minds to with patients and perseverance. Thanks for your support in this work. Steve Holyoak

Smashwords Interview

When did you first start writing?
I first started writing children's stories when my children were small and stories were a big part of bedtime. As time went on I found that the stories grew longer and eventually Jacob of Capernaum grew into a novel.
What's the story behind your latest book?
As a young reader I found the scriptures confusing and hard to read. As an adult I realized the importance of scripture reading at an early age. This book is designed to help the new scripture reader to discover the flow and joy in reading the New Testament through story form. Then each reader will be able to search the scriptures with added ease and understanding.
