Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
A Tale of Two Cities. It impacted me in that the character of everyone in this historic drama was exposed under the worst of circumstances: the good as well as the bad. Godliness, honesty, and unselfishness is radically contrasted by the evil, vindictive, and hateful people.
How do you approach cover design?
I furnished the artist with the challenge of illustrating the three stages in Joseph's life, represented by the coat of rejection by his brothers; the coat confiscated by Potiphar's wife when Joseph rejected her seductions, which sent him to prison; and the coat of royalty and wealth in which he ended up as a result of his virtue and obedience to God. I think the cover achieves the objective symbolism.
