Yellowed pages crinkled as my older sister and I rummaged through my mother’s stash of romance novels. It was time to try something new, and my mom had always loved to get lost in their pages. I settled on Jewels of the Sun by Nora Roberts. Instantly, I was in love.
A year passed. I absorbed as many romance novels as I could, until one day I decided to try writing one myself. Surprised by the ease at which I wrote, and the love which I had for my undeveloped characters, I realized that I wanted to create worlds where men and women fall in love, despite any hardships.
While I enjoy other types of fiction, I always come back to romance. Nowhere else are you assured a happily ever after.
