When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Everybody should be able to figure out how I'll answer this one: I paddle! I love to be on the water and I enjoy the physical activity of moving a craft through the water. It's meditative; when I paddle, all I think about is the moment. I've been lucky to do a lot of coaching the past two seasons. I've found that coaching has raised my own paddling skills to a much higher level, and I've really loved the chance to meet all sorts of people who share my passion.
When did you first start writing?
I've been writing most of my life. I have an MA in English Lit/Creative Writing, which I chose because I always knew writing would be part of my life forever. I had my first short story published about that time, wrote a couple of novels that collected dust on the shelf, and then found that Corporate America needed writers. Now I freelance as an writer, editor, and proofreader, and also teach writing and English at the college level.
