Biography

J. Celan Smith is a global nomad, raised in Thailand, Malaysia, Australia and the USA. After settling in Portland, Oregon, he was educated in psychology, philosophy, religion and literature at Oregon State University, Multnomah Seminary and Emory University. He has taught at Emory and in Indonesia, Spain and the USA. He loves language, myth, and imagination. Currently he lives in Asheville, North Carolina, where he paints, writes, blows glass, meditates, walks, enjoys music and listens to nature. He is available for readings and speaking engagements.
